During my Master's degree in IDD&E, I learned that instructional design is a good plan and organization for the effective learning of learners. Flexibility, adaptability, availability of resources and criteria for selecting educational materials are also very important concerns for the meaningful learning of learners. Learners must encounter more than one alternative learning atmosphere to match the level of content with appropriate materials, strategies, and theories. Teachers, and I am one of them, bear a great responsibility in organizing teaching while integrating the level of knowledge content and the selection of attractive and productive materials in the learning and teaching process to provide equal opportunities, standards, and experiences about the reality for learners within the framework of the constructivist approach. Now, as an instructional designer, what I have learned during this period will help me assist in the instructional design, development, and implementation of training programs and solving current and potential problems. My workplace in Al Zubair Public School will be the first starting point in this field. I am looking forward to working in the Development and Training Department in the Saudi Ministry of Education.
My Story
My name is Abdulrahman Algriwi, and I am from Saudi Arabia. This is my second semester in the Instructional Technology Ph.D. program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Arts and Humanities in European Languages – English (Language), King Abdul-Aziz University- Saudi Arabia. After graduation, I worked for over a decade in the educational sector, teaching high school students English (Language). That long experience has enriched my knowledge and inspired me to do further studies, especially in educational technology. I finished my master’s degree in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation, School of Education, Syracuse University, New York State, US. And from my job as a teacher, I knew several educational issues and saw to what extent the teachers use technology with students to get good results in the future, especially since this generation is able to use technology, so it was important to follow optimal guidance, as well as the curriculum after the last development phase in English, mathematics, computer and so on that, make it necessary to use technology in education. I'd like to pursue a Ph.D. in order to expand my knowledge in the integration of technology into education. I aim to assist teachers in using technology in the most appropriate and successful manner possible by providing training and assisting in their professional development, as well as my desire to serve my homeland by assisting in the achievement of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom Vision 2030 in education, which includes the development of education and learning methods as well as providing education to all members of society.
