Chapter eleven focuses on the development of serious games for children and adolescents. There has reportedly been little research on digital games that concentrated on children and adolescents. Because of this, this chapter offers a theoretical framework for comprehending the consequences of digital games as well as some ideas for building serious games for children and adolescents. It has been suggested that digital games are considered community culture tools that influence individual thinking and learning. From this perspective, designers of serious games must understand this influence. The writers of this chapter contend that formal aspects of a medium and its presenting material should be considered to comprehend how digital games affect learning. The formal characteristics of a medium are specified by the authors by identifying its symbol systems, which users must decide to grasp the content to understand the function of features. Users' thinking and learning have been influenced by this notion.
